Please briefly present the partner organisation.
GENÇTUR is active in voluntary field for 36 years. Our main activity area is short term international voluntary work camps. We send around 400 Turkish volunteers to 86 countries all over the world and receive around 250 foreign volunteers in our short term projects in Turkey.
GENÇTUR is also active in EU – Youth Programs since 2000 as a partner. We have got our first accreditation in 2007 as soon as Turkey became a program country. Then we started to deal with EU Youth in Action program. During the first term of our accreditation period, we have sent 25 EVS volunteers abroad both for short and long term. We have hosted 40 people in 2 different youth exchanges and we were partner of many different youth exchanges hosted by our partners in Europe. In the following second and third terms, we have increased our activeness and have sent 300 EVS volunteers in total by 31.12.2016.
At the same period we have also started to host EVS volunteers in our office and hosted 7 volunteers from 7 different countries. Now we are hosting our 8th EVS volunteer from Germany.
GENÇTUR, sends and receives participants for youth exchanges as well. We have hosted around 200 participants in 6 different youth and youth workers exchange projects. We are regularly sending around 10-15 participants annually for different youth exchange projects.
What are the activities and experience of the organization in the areas relevant for this application?
GENÇTUR is accredited as coordinating – sending and hosting organisation. We are promoting EVS among young people and acting as an information and counselling center. We interview a big number of candidate EVS voluınteers and keep their files open until they are placed in a hosting organisation. We are supporting all our volunteers from their first step until they finish their EVS. We register them in CIGNA insutance system and help them to organize their travels and visas.
We also have experience on selecting, preparing and sending participants for the youth exchanges. The calls of projects reach to hundreds of people via our bulletin and social media accounts. Via youth exchanges we aim to give a chance to the young people to improve themselves, to be self sufficient, respectful and self confident.
What are the skills and expertise of key staff/persons involved in this application?
Our EVS coordinators are well familiar with the project applications and volunteer management. The head coordinator is involved in the voluntary work field for 36 years. He is running all volunteer / group leader / youth exchange trainings in our organization and also is invited by the partners to give trainings.
GENÇTUR is experienced in all steps of the EVS process from the first application to placement, insurance, visa and travel. Volunteers can reach us whenever they face a problem and can not solve it by themselves, during their EVS. All volunteers are requested to send a written monthly report. We also write and implement EVS projects in Turkey.
Youth exchanges are run by the contributions of the camp leaders and project coordinators. They are responsible for the projects they undertake from the application process to the final report.

TO DO LIST TO HOST A TURKISH VOLUNTEER
Dear Friends,
- All Turkish volunteers need to apply for visa and sometimes it takes longer than expected. So our volunteers may start a bit later, please keep this im mind .
- Please put 120 Euro for the visa cost although the visa fee is 60 Euro, as some of our volunteers who live out İstanbul, has to travel twice to apply for the visa and to collect the passport from his/her home town. But additionaly please keep in mind that the entry visa is given only for 3 months. Then our volunteer has to apply for the residence permit after his/ her arrival. So please check the cost and add this cost as well in the budget.
- Our SO cost is 40 Euro per month / per volunteer and we like to have the half as the first installment after the arrival of the volunteer and the rest towards the end of the Project.
- After the approval of your NA, we will deal with the visa proces and make our volunteers’s insurance by CIGNA.
- In case you need to learn, ask something more, please do not hesitate.
